241-1120 Confederation Refuses Imperial Assistance in Search for Baron

1827 Terra/Solomani Rim (TNS) - Solomani Confederation diplomats formally announced today refusal of Imperial assistance in the investigation into the now eight-week-old disappearance of the Baron of Buenos Aires in Confederation space.  Baron hault-Jackson-Espino and his entourage vanished allegedly after jumping from the Confederation world of Mirabilis.

Several noted Imperials, including the Baron of Britain have decried Confederation insistence on a unilateral investigation, theorizing the possibility of foul-play. "If the Confederation is not involved in Alyn's disappearance, they have no reason to refuse our assistance.  I'm not judging, I'm just saying..."
Archduke Adair has offered assistance to the Confederation in the form of ships, search-and-rescue experts, and information sharing.  So far, all these offers have been rebuffed.  The Archduke has also increased patrols throughout the rimward sectors of the domain to support the search effort.  Even so, after eight weeks, hopes of the Baron's safe return are beginning to dim.

The Solomani Confederation claims to have seen Imperial scout ships illegally searching the edges of a number of Confederation systems.

209-1120 Baron Missing in Solomani Space

1827 Terra/Solomani Rim (TNS)- The Baron of Buenos Aires, Alyn hault-Jackson-Espino and his ship, the IMV Coeur d'Or have been listed as “overdue” on a jump from Mirabilis to Chrysolite, in the Solomani Confederation.  The vessel, leased to the Barony of Buenos Aires on Terra, left Mirabilis six weeks ago, and did not exit jump when scheduled.  Confederation news reports go out of their way to deny any evidence of sabotage or hijacking. The Baron or his staff were in the Confederation engaged in a diplomatic mission to the Confederation. The Solomani Confederation representative on Terra categorically denies his government’s involvement in any assassination or abduction plot against the Terran noble.

The Office of the Marchioness of Terra released the following statement:

The Marchioness extends her best wishes to the family of Baron Jackson-Espino, Senora Donna Bonaventura, and the families of the staff and crew aboard the Coeur d’Or.  She expresses her fondest hope that our beloved Baron will return safely to Terra.  She also formally requests that the Confederation allow Imperial officials to fully investigate the disappearance of a member of the Imperial government, and to follow that investigation wherever it may lead.

Imperial diplomatic officials report that they have offered all assistance to the Confederation regarding any investigations into the status and whereabouts of the Baron, but have yet to receive a formal response.

185-1120 Imperial Ship Overdue

1032 Chrysolite/Solomani Rim (Solomani Confederation InfoNet)- Solomani Confederation Navy officials confirmed today that the Imperial yacht Coeur d’Or is reported overdue at Chrysolite Highport.  The vessel left Mirabilis three weeks ago, and did not exit jump when scheduled.  Message traffic from the Coeur d’Or before jump was per normal, and the Confederation Navy Traffic Monitoring and Protection Command at Chrysolite reports that jump signature analysis indicated no unusual emanations.

The Imperial vessel, carrying Terran celebrity Mr. Alyn Jackson-Espino and his entourage were touring several worlds in the Confederation.

Expected arrival points at Chrysolite were searched, but no recent debris was found.  Confederation Naval and Shipping Control has reported no distress calls or other messages from the ship.  All systems within 36 parsecs are on alert for a possible misjump. According to the Confederation Navy there is no evidence of hijacking or sabotage.

The Navy also reports that there is no evidence of espionage on the part of the complement of the Coeur d'Or at this time.

185-1120 Home/Aldebaran (TNS) - During closing proceedings of the Solomani Party Congress, the Secretariat has elected a new Secretary-General.

The new chief executive of the Solomani Confederation is Marc Chissano. Chissano is a member of the ruling family of Twilight/Aldebaran and has served as his homeworld's delegate to the Secretariat since 1113. He has also held a series of posts in the Solomani bureaucracy, most recently serving as Deputy Minister of Information. His politics are believed to be firmly radical - he has consistently supported strict racial-purity laws and an anti-Imperial foreign policy.

As usual, the Secretariat held its elections behind closed doors, so details of Chissano's election are unclear. Several delegates have stated to the press that Chissano was a "compromise candidate," nominated only after several more prominent delegates were unable to break a deadlock.

164-1120 Baron to depart for Chrysolite

1332 Mirabilis/Solomani Rim (TNS)- Baron hault-Jackson-Espino and his ship, the IMV Coeur d'Or will jump outsystem to continue his tour of the Confederation. The Barons itinerary includes Chrysolite, Twylo, the Bootes Cluster and Hamilcar.

158-1120 Mirabilis rolls out the red carpet for Terran Baron

1332 Mirabilis/Solomani Rim (Solomani Confederation InfoNet)- A crowd of 60,000 turned out yesterday to greet the Baron of Buenos Aires on Terra.
